Music Therapist - Board Certified will work with a growing private practice to serve a rewarding variety of clinical populations. Our team is seeking a dynamic therapist who cares deeply about each client’s growth and well-being, who wants to make a difference for children with special needs, and bring a moment of joy and clarity for older adults in memory care settings. Therapist will facilitate high-quality music therapy groups, individualized sessions, and adaptive music lessons. Sessions will be a mix of Assessment, treatment planning, musicianship, facilitation, documentation, internship program support, good interpersonal communication, advocacy, and all skills relevant to music therapy required.

Job will require commuting. Monday through Friday schedule will vary. Session planning resources, office and music equipment, repertoire, engaged team support, and additional resources will be available to help you best serve your new community.

 

Qualifications

Therapist must hold and maintain MT-BC credentials, driver’s license, reliable transportation, auto insurance, liability insurance, and ability to pass a criminal background check. Experience in medical, early childhood, older adult, and general private practice settings is ideal, but all work history will be considered. Ability to teach multiple instruments is helpful.

We adhere to the American Music Therapy Association’s Scope of Practice, Standards of Clinical Practice, and Code of Ethics. Our self-motivated, organized, and independent music therapists provide support and mentorship for our internship program and enjoy time with fellow therapists.

Detailed Job Description

Complete assessments to address specific needs and abilities of clients

Design treatment plans to address clinical goals and objectives

Plan and prepare for all sessions

Conduct one-on-one services, small and large group sessions, and occasional event performances

Demonstrate good self, client, and environmental awareness

Recognize limitations, and educate self on relevant clinical settings, therapeutic approaches, professional topics, etc.

Facilitate engaging and effective therapy sessions

Demonstrate musicianship through (at least) voice and guitar with expansive and responsive repertoire of patient preferred music

Accept varying work schedules

Adapt to unexpected conditions, circumstances, etc.

Communicate effectively with MTSP team, interdisciplinary teams, clients, client families, etc.

Provide support and mentorship for internship program

Advocate effectively for music therapy in general and MTSP in particular

Maintain good sanitary habits

Care for, clean, and help maintain instruments and equipment

Document detailed notes for clinical work in a timely manner

Maintain clear record of work hours

Exercise good time management

Follow through with all tasks and deadlines

Maintain current MT-BC credentials, reliable transportation, auto insurance, and liability insurance

Maintain reliable, detail-oriented, autonomous workmanship

Work well under pressure, and maintain appropriate self-care
